I have accepted a mini-fellowship opportunity in Hip Preservation Surgery in Chicago, under Dr Benjamin Domb. The fellowship runs from February 2016 until August, 2016. Hip preservation surgery is the fastest growing area of Orthopaedics and has been a long time interest of mine. It includes the management of all areas of hip pathology including impingement, deformity, dysplasia and arthritis. The fellowship not only emphasizes skills in hip arthroscopy, but also open hip surgery for complex deformity, robot assisted and anterior approach hip arthroplasty and management of athletic injuries about the pelvis and hip. This will greatly enhance my ability to provide a far greater spectrum of services to the community, especially to the Blaauwberg and West Coast area. Upon my return in August, I look forward to providing a personlised, state of the art Orthopaedic care, not only to children, but also adolescents and young adults with hip pathology. As always, I will continue to provide subspecialty care to children with Pediatric Orthopaedic problems. I look forward to sharing an exciting and productive 2016 with you.
